Walk Towards Your Dreamsposted by in Russ Whitney
Sometimes people fear the inevitable, like the thought of a relationship ending or being forced out of a job when the company they work for is taken over.
Many have dreams, visions and goals for themselves but, due to various fears about failure, not having enough money and other unforeseen challenges, they never take the first step to make those dreams and goals a reality.
Russ Whitney, the author of Inner Voice: Unlock Your Purpose & Passion, felt the same way when he was a young man working in a slaughterhouse. He dreamt of doing big things, and being a better provider for his family.
The problem is that life has a habit of slipping away quite fast and, many times, those people find themselves at the end of their life wishing that they could go back in time and do it all again, because they never took the initiative to make their dreams a reality.
Is that’s you, or even worse you’re worried that one day it will be you, the question you have to ask yourself is simply this; what are you waiting for?
What’s keeping you from chasing your dreams right now? Is it that you will run out of money, or that you might fail? Is it that, based on the dream that you want to achieve, you don’t think you have the skills, aptitude or wherewithal to achieve it? Are people telling you that your dreams are simply that, dreams, and need to be put aside for more important things?
If you said yes to any of those, or maybe even all of them, the fact is that you might be right. You might run out of money, you might fail and it’s a good bet that the skills you need aren’t part of your skill set, at least not yet.
But here’s the thing; there’s probably a better chance that you will be successful, that you can learn the skills you need, and that you make enough money to simply be happy. Heck, there’s even a chance that whatever you do will make you a lot of money, very successful and happier than you’ve ever been in your life.
Of course, if you never do it, you’ll never know, will you?
The point is simply this; all of us only get one chance, one life and one ride on the big carousel. It’s up to each and every one of us to get as much as possible out of this life, and that doesn’t necessarily mean money, wealth and riches.
Depending on who you are, and what your dreams happen to be, it’s possible that you could be extremely content and have an incredible life without being wealthy, but again you will never know unless you do it.
As the character Yoda from the Star Wars movie franchise said “Do, or do not. There is no try.”
